Inspired by the Green Man images on medieval English churches and other sacred sites around the world, my Green Man Puppet sings his special song:
Song of the Green Man
Green grow the leaves upon the trees
Green leaves do sprout from me
I am a child of good Mother Earth
The Green Man I do be
Leaves of oak and birch and elm
Willow, pecan, and peach
Leaves in my eyebrows, leaves in my beard
Leaves wherever I reach
The Green Man I do be/The Green Man I do be
I rest in winter hidden in the roots
My heartbeat is the rain
And when Father Sun does summon me
I sprout green leaves again
Pine and redwood, aspen, ash
Elderberry, plum
Cottonwood, buckeye, sassafrass
And I have just begun!
The Green Man I do be/The Green Man I do be
So many shapes and shades of green
The leaves that I bring forth
I am a child of good Mother Earth
The Green Man I do be
Sycamore, sugarberry, maple, beech
Juniper and mesquite
Leaves in my eyebrows, leaves in my beard
Leaves wherever I reach
The Green Man I do be/The Green Man I do be
