To celebrate National Poetry Month this year, April 2021, several San Antonio poets were matched

with shops at the Pearl and commissioned to write a short poem to be displayed in the shop’s window.

I was lucky to be matched with The Twig bookstore — certainly my favorite place at the

Pearl and a venue where I have enjoying listening to and being part of poetry readings. Here is my poem

displayed on a window at The Twig. I wrote it thinking of all the children that enjoy The Twig’s

wonderful children’s section and programming.
