I lead a Poetry Walk every July at Phil Hardberger Park and will be reading poems inspired by the native plants and creatures I have encountered there. Gemini Ink Offices. \nSelecting a subject\, keeping a nature journal\, looking at the writings of Ellen Meloy and Sharman Apt Russell. Based on memory experiences\, participants will draft a first poem or short prose piece. \nFriday\, October 11\, 9-11:30 a.m.: In the Field at Hardberger Park: How to Slow Down to Embody the Language of Tree\, Insect\, Bird\, Cloud\, and Stone \nA mindfulness walk with writing prompts. Sharing of Nature Journals. \nFriday\, October 18\, 9-11:30 a.m.: Butterfly monitoring at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. \nParticipants will engage in citizen science at the height of Monarch migration and then create a poem or short prose piece. \nSharing of Nature Journals. \nFriday\, October 25\, 9-11:30 a.m.: Gemini Ink Offices. \nCrafting and revising poems or short prose pieces based on the month’s experiences and individual nature journals.
